The power of basic HTML :D (image / title tags)

This post is here to assist a friend with some basic image formatting inside of bloggers interface but is also just basic HTML that can be used anywhere HTML serves a purpose. I have inserted the punk rock image below the "insert image" link in the toolbar and then uploaded it from my computer. Notice that when you hover your mouse over the top of the image nothing happens.

If you click the "Edit HTML" tab

you will see all the crap that your browser reads to make your post look pretty for your readers. Once you are on that tab you will need to find the image that you want to add a description for.
An image tag opens with a "<img " and closes with a "/>" Everything else between the open and the close tells your browser how to treat the image.
Example:
in the image to the right you see where I have highlighted the entire image tag. There is a (border="0"), (height="320"), (src="location of file on the web"), (width="244").
What we are missing that would be very helpful in some blog posts is the (title="description of the image") tag, where everything between the "" is the description of the image. To add the title tag all you have to do is click in the line and add the tag just like you see in the picture below.

Once this is done you can see the description is now available when you hold you mouse of the image just like the image below.

Hopefully that wasn't too confusing and actually helped someone. One thing you will notice is that Blogger's WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) editor likes to add tags and rearrange everything almost every time you click back and forth from the "Compose" to the "Edit HTML" tabs. Because of this you might want to go ahead and create your entire blog entry then add all your title="" tags and then verify the layout of your page before posting the blog.

So here I sit in contemplation

Spazzy McRandombits wrote down some thoughts. Feel free to laugh, mock, think, or skip. I can assure you there is nothing of great importance here.

I am a unique person, there are many like me.
I like to be alone in crowded places.
I like to be alone with you, anywhere.

I think I am different,
I often wonder if that is because I cannot see how much we are alike.
Maybe it is just inexperience with interpersonal relationships. I feel like I climbed in a hole a long time ago and only allowed a few people to visit me there. It is so hard to get out of that hole and be comfortable. I think I missed out on a lot of life's good lessons.

It is so very strange. I have sat starving for a very long time but I didn't know why I was hungry. I did not know I was starving, let alone even hungry. I remember an emptiness, but not knowing what it was, there was no sense in crying about it. Now that I know, there is not enough time in the day to catch up. Focusing is so difficult. I want to read everything and meditate on nothing and grab a hold of all the things that make me smile and not let go. I want to know... ...all, experience most, and live great.

Don't mind my ramblings :) Love you all
"The problem with life is, by the time you figure out how to live, it's often too late." ~Unkown
I refuse to let it be too late and I will die trying to figure it out way before then :D

A change of plans. (Day 17)

It seems to me that my original plan of posting something every day was just a little bit too ambitious for a one man film, design, animator, editor, bla bla bla... As such and after a few good conversations with a friend, it makes sense that I throttle this back a little bit in order to provide quality over quantity. I honestly feel like this will be more enjoyable for everyone if I take a little more time in creating my posts. I think that a couple of quality posts a week will be much more interesting and effective.

So the new plan is to take my time and try to create one or two good videos a week. I am not going to blog every single day. As you can see I am not really a writer nor should I try to portray someone with talent in that department. I do however, still reserve the right to spit out random rants about whatever topic I feel that I need to rant about. Hopefully doing this will get more people to watch versus being annoyed by my spam, heheh.

Sometimes I wish I was half as clever as I think I am. Hrrrrm....

Perception (Day 14)

Just to clarify, this curiosity doesn't own me always. But I am often curious.

Sleep now! (Day 11-12)

I hope you all enjoyed the bungee fail video. We will try again soon I hope. I have decided to minimize the blog entries to days without actual videos. I guess my writing skills just aren't cutting it. Not nearly as many people are digging the blog and it is just more crap that doesn't really matter anyhow :D

I am compiling todays video now but I spent way too much time on a fun surprise (my first attempt at animation with Premiere) and it is now 1230. I need sleep. I will upload when I wake up.

Much love!

10/10/10? (Day 10)

Freaky! That wasn't planned at all. The really wierd part is that I first had the idea to do this whole blog/video spam of the earth back on 5/5/5. It seems like it was only yesterday. Just kidding! But seriously I think it is a bit wierd that in a month that contains the date 10/10/10 there are 5 fridays, 5 saturdays, and 5 sundays. I heard from someone that this ocasion only occurs every 823 years. I thought that was abit off, I am no math wizard but I still thought it was off a bit so I asked my good friend Snopes.com. Turns out, that stupid sack of lies was just someone trying to sound SMRT and spamming their stoopidity to the world. I love misinformation :). Anyhow, they were just feeding off of the similar misinformation that went out about August of this year. It happens that 2010 is the fisrt year in 11 years that this has happened and there is a rotational pattern that it follows but I don't care that much about it.

Well this will be the last auto post for this weekend. Much love to all those that are enjoying my splurge of information. Help me out here share my links to the Youtube channel, this blog, and ThePhubar.com. While you are at it go ahead and subscribe to my feeds.
Thanks for all the support folks,

First absentee blog release (Day 9)

It is now 0930 Saturday morning here in fantabulous South Korea. I am probably on a train at this very moment on my way to Seoul. That's right folks, it's time to get my bungee on. About a month ago I took a zipline trip with the base outdoor rec group. It was fun, but it left me hungry for some adrenaline. I am afraid of heights so I expected to get a little adrenaline out of thie zip line. I got nothing. Don't get me wrong it was fun. I smiled and laughed a bit but it just didn't light my fire like I thought it would. So in the fashion that I learned from good old dad, I am going bungee jumping tomorrow. If there is one thing that I learned from him it was, "If it scares the shit out of you, do it." I am a firm believer in trying anything once, except for ê°€ (dog.) So here I go. Maybe Sunday night you all will get to witness my deat... fun adventure via YouTube.

I have been toying with a photography idea lately. I think this weekend I might actually get a chance to do some of it. Seoul is the perfect playground for that larger than life environment. I want to capture sets of images that can be imposed on one another to make me and my friends look like we are huge people sitting on the large buildings downtown and roughing stuff up. I think it will be a lot of fun as long as the weather allows it. Hopefully I can get some of this stuff together and uploaded to my Flickr for you guys to see.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. I know I am :)

So I was thinking (Day 8)

War week is finally over. I think for the most part I can see the YouTube videos are well on thier way to taking shape. I have been working closely with the star of the show and I think we are making some progress on creative vision and application. But you know how stars are, finicky, demanding little twit. You get 30 hits on one Youtube video and suddenly he wants his own trailer and a sign on his door. I just want the idiot to keep looking at the camera through an entire recording session. I will keep you posted on my progress here.

Back to my original train of thought... which reminds me, "train of thought" am I saying that right? It sounds a little bit on the silly side actually. I see a tiny little puffy train struggling through mud and porn and snow to deliver its tiny insignificant thoughts to the thought verification plant. I wonder if that can really be right. ...I was thinking that it might be a good idea if I tried to actually follow some sort of writing structure for these blogs. I really have been just babbling on in no specific order as if I were typing an e-mail to an old friend. Is that ok? Or, should I actually try to give these a formatted purpose each day?

I am counting on you! That is right, You! Both of my subscribers to comment on this blog entry and let me know what you think. For now, please enjoy todays web-isode. Be sure to drink more Ovaltine.... err... sorry, Be sure to stay though the episode to see a wonderful accelerated segment where I am stripping out of my exercise gear to the sound of the Circus Theme Song.

The exciting conclusion (Day 7)

Wow I am tired! I want my normal hours back that allow me time to do what I want not just eat and sleep. I finished up the MRE video with some nice touches, to include but not limited to, a blur filter so you don't have to witness the food getting chewed in my mouth while I eat and talk. I am a horrible excuse for a human being, I know. Well the good news is there is only one more day of this war for me and then I am off for a three day weekend.

It looks like the plan is to hit the Bungee tower in Yuldong park this Saturday morning. Hopefully we will figure something out from there.

I completely lost my train of thought because somebody is smoking in the dorm and my room is currently a billowing ashtray of someone elses funk. I just really wish that people in shared living facilities would think, if even only for a second, about someone other than themselves. Ex-smokers are the worst non smokers, I will step down off my box now.

Oh yes bungee! I hope to get some great video of how I died bungee jumping so that it can all me analyzed later. Or so people can witness me screaming like a girl as I fall. I don't know but it is going to happen and it is going to be great.

Alright world, It looks like I made it one week in! Contratulations are in order. I think the project has come a long way in seven days. I hope that the next seven are equally as productive as The Phubar continues its journey in eveolution. The question is, what will it become?

Heartburn in a bag! (Day 6)

Oh man, I really wish I hadn't eaten that MRE! It was not a Meal Ready to Eat! It was not! Heartburn has not been this bad in a long long while. I thought it would be fun to show everyone how to prepare a MRE and then chow down on said MRE. I thought wrong. The video is a little longer than I would like it to be and I had to cut it off to be continued tomorrow. I might save the continuation and place it back in the stream at a later date as a day 6.5 cut, or something like that. I don't know, I guess we shall all see.

Last night was a lot of fun (sarcasm.) We went into Alarm Blue, Mopp 4 on three separate occasions. The longest was for 1.5 hours. Let me explain that a little bit, Alarm Blue means we are getting attacked. Mopp 4 means we have to don out protective equipment such as gas mask and rubber gloves, which really complete the ensemble that we are already wearing during these exercises. The gear isn't too bad except for the fact that it gets really hot, like wearing a winter coat in the summertime. But these new masks we wear are great compared to their predecessor's. I think that maybe tomorrow I will finish up the MRE spot and then maybe the following day I can introduce everyone to the gear that I have been wearing.

I really wish this video would hurry up and compile. I need to get my beauty rest. On a lighter note I think having the videos up in a crisp clean 720p is a very nice touch. Maybe some day I will have a sexy guest or co-star and then the high-def will really pay off, hehehe.

Well folks, I do believe that is all I have in me for today. Remember, it's a frickin war out there so keep your head low and don't squeeze the Charmin.... whatever that means...

Getting there (Day 5)

All things considered I am doing incredibly well. I am figuring out a lot of new stuff about the applications that I am using to produce my little video clips and starting today they will be coming to you in 720p! Very nice!!! I took a little time and actually made a title sequence that I think is worth a crap. It is mainly a bunch of Photoshop layers stacked over the top of the Video layers in Adobe Premiere. I think it looks pretty damn good anyhow. I also figured out how to crop the video so that I can get full advantage of the video quality without the unwanted junk on the top and the bottom of the video area. once again, VERY NICE!!!

I suppose it is time for war week! I started it out with a little mood lighting and an overly excited explanation of the lameness that is an Air Force Exercise. This is a really tricky gig trying to share info with you all and not give away any info that my owners (Yeah the Air Force OWNS my ass at least until 2012, conveniently just up until we all perish in Armageddon on 12/21/2012) will be upset by. I want to keep this interesting so hopefully I wont let anyone down.

Before I forget I would like anyone and everyone to take a look at some of the work of a friend of mine. He is only 16 and currently lives in England and is one of the most talented graphic artists I have met. Go to http://www2.redbubble.com/people/ponti55 and take a look see for yourself. There are also links there to purchase prints of some of his work. He has a way will colors that just completes the mood of his image so well. I aspire to create anything that will make people feel the way his images do. They are absolutely fantastic.

Don't shave your tongue (Day 4)

Alright so I had a little fun today. Aside from tweaking the CSS on the site a little more, I found a neat site that lets me make the t-shirts that always pop into my head. Check it out at www.Cafepress.com/ThePhubar. Also, if you haven't watched any of my videos yet you must watch day 4. It still could have been fine tuned a bit but I am very happy with the outcome. I now have many ideas for similar stuff in the future.

I really didn't read anything about shaving your tongue on the Internet so don't get any ideas. It probably won't cure your morning breath. Probably... Hahahah! So tomorrow starts an entire week of combat action. Lemme see yer war face!!!

If you still don't follow then you will just have to come back tomorrow and see. For now, I am going to read a book and chill. Away from this computer!

Much love,

New WEBCAM!!! (Day 3)

I am totally stoked! My new webcam is wicked cool. I upgrade from a four year old camera that was compact and made to clip on to a laptop. The video quality was never really that great and with me doing these video blogs I finally had an excuse to upgrade. I purchased a Webcam Pro 9000 from the BX for $79.99. Not happy about the price but I am very satisfied with the product. As you can see if you watch the video the quality difference is like night and day. I really couldn't be happier with a webcam. Now if I had a real camera like "Panasonic AG-HVX200" now that would be something else. Maybe one day I will have a full on studio with the real nice stuff. For now, I will settle for my shiny new $80 webcam.

So today was my day off. I missed a few opportunities to go out with folks and ended up staying in. That's alright because this way when I wake up I wont have a terrible hang over. I don't mind drinking so much, it is really just the hang over and feeling like complete shit the next day that gets to me. It doesn't help much that people around here don't just go out for a few drinks. It always ends up being a sport or a competition, haha. And then, HANG OVER. I did get a chance to waste my entire evening trying to learn how to build a layout in CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) for thephubar.com. I am making progress I think. Funny thing is, I seriously fought with it for about 5 hours and only have half of the page up and working. You can see it here. I do like the new design a little better though, it seems more stylish and crisp to me. Check it out and let me know what you think.

That's really all that has been going on today. We are going to have some great fun next week though. It's a war baby! If you don't know what I am talking about don't sweat it. You will know soon enough. Until then, LEMME SEE YER WARFACE!!!!

Let me explain (Day 2)

This is going to be a challenge for me. I posted the video last night before I went to work and I was hoping to plug in a short blog entry as well but didn't have time to take care of it then. I figured I would just type it up in the morning. In the morning when I was supposed to type it up I completely forgot all about it and passed out. I guess I was making up for a whole week of 3-6 hours nights of sleep because I got me a solid 10 hours today. Only problem is now I have a wicked hangover-like headache.

Feedback welcome:
I am new to this and I would like it to become something that people enjoy. Some of my thoughts for improvement are almost segments like in a goofy newscast (i.e. Overused catch phrase of the day, or foreign language word of the day. I am currently learning Korean so this wouldn't be too hard.) There is a lot of work that goes in to making a formatted show. As such I think I will create a bunch of little side segments and just plug them in at random. But most days will be more like a better version of todays episode as time and skill progresses. I am just getting used to putting myself in front of the camera. As time goes on I will get more comfortable and mroe of "me" will shine through and hopefully that will be a good thing.

I am a firm believer in the fact that you really can do anything you want with a little time and practice. Some people are naturally good at certain things this doesn't mean that those skills cannot also be learned. I believe that this world is full of half ass heros running the show and leading the way. The reason for this is because while the majority of people with the real skill and talent in those areas didn't have the drive to push themselves into those positions in life.

Thanks for reading folks. Constructive critisism is always welcome.

Hello world! (Day 1)

Well here it is. Day one has arrived. Lesson learned after recording my first video; Script! Not crazy blown out in depth script or anything but some basic outlining would have helped a lot. I got so worked up about getting this ball rolling that I overlooked the fact that it might be easier to chat it up with the world if I organize my thoughts in a visual format before turning on the camera.

Seriously, the take that I actually posted to my Youtube channel was my fifth attempt at recording a continuous sequence, and it was HORRIBLE. The only reason I posted it was because I had to post something and I was running out of time before work. Oh well, I suppose I had to start somewhere. At this point I am just glad that I don't have a huge following of people that I let down or something. Now after the fact that the video is posted I am realizing that there is a ton of stuff that I had wanted to put into the first post that I didn't. I was going to include a cheesy little sequence where I flipped the video horizontally while I alternated a second role congratulating myself on actually posting my first video. Yeah a lot of my thoughts are cheesy but I am not ashamed; I am going to post it anyway.

Until tomorrow,

~The Phubar, out...

p.s. After today the post script cracks are going away, at least until I have something that really belongs here.

p.p.s. Crap that kind of belonged there. Seriously, I will be keeping the use of post script to pertinent uses only.
